My mom and I were eager to get back here! It reopened on June 21, 2021 :D It is currently in operation from 9 AM to 5PM on Mondays through Fridays and 10AM to 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. COVID-19 procedures are still in place—you must wear a mask and no more than fifty people are allowed inside at one time.

The full name of this facility is the Watershed Center for Environmental Advocacy, Science, and Education. Visitors have been permitted to enter since May 2015. There are several areas: live and taxidermy animal exhibits, classrooms and conference halls, a laboratory, and more! You can tour the facility by yourself or schedule a staff-guided tour. See The Watershed Institute's website for contact information. We encourage you to read more details about the facility in the "Watershed Center" section. It is an awesome place!

The turtle depicted here is the star of the live animal exhibits XD She has her own artificial habitat complete with features such as water, a log, fake cattails, and a fake great blue heron. Here are some interesting facts: female red-eared sliders are much bigger than males and these turtles can live for twenty years when they are in captivity :O

This taxidermy fox creeped me out the first time I saw it. Taxidermy in general is just creepy. When I saw a taxidermy animal for the first time, I thought "Why is this a thing??" My feelings toward this unusual craft actually inspired me to write a flash fiction horror story in 2018. It is published on Writing.Com. My fellow writers gave it a 4 out of 5 star rating :D You can read it here: https://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/2173697-Taxidermy. Fair warning: it is pretty scary! I recommend not reading it at night. Especially not before bed.

The Butterfly House is next! Yes, another butterfly place :D

Did you read my story? Feel free to let me know what you thought of it! I am always open to receiving feedback about my writing.
