I have always liked little buildings such as this one. We walked past it while entering the town. Our whole family has loved lighthouses since we visited some in North Carolina (we will be covering this state in the future!)

The Stonington Lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. It attracts both locals and tourists annually. As indicated in the photo, it was constructed by a builder named John Bishop in 1840. This establishment was in operation until 1889 when The Stonington Historical Society converted it into a history museum (more on the museum in the next post!) Other than visiting the museum, you are permitted to have picnics and rent the property for private events. Visit The Stonington Historical Society's website to learn more about the rental.

What is the best lighthouse you have visited?
