We will be expanding on some things we discussed in our previous post about B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill. If you missed it, you can read it here: https://meghanhirst27.wixsite.com/my-site/post/mystic-ct-part-7-history-of-b-f-clyde-s-cider-mill.
As we implied in that post, my mom and I tried the apple cider donuts that are all the rage at this destination. But our methodology was unfortunately flawed—we waited to eat them for breakfast the next day. As a result, they were just average :( Do not make the same mistake! Eat them fresh. They will be much better.
If you are an apple dessert lover, you are in luck—the bakery also sells caramel apples, apple pies, apple pie pockets, apple turnovers, and apple dumplings (what apple dessert do they not sell? lol). The non-apple foods that they offer are jelly donuts, cookies, brownies, muffins, and elephant ears (oval puff pastries with cinnamon). They do not make as many batches of jelly donuts, so act fast if you want some!
Both sweet and hard ciders are available here as well as a variety of flavored wines (there is apple cider and apple wine of course!). You can view photos and descriptions of the wines on their website. There are fifteen of them :O If you are a fan of pumpkin spice like me, be sure to try their special Halloween drink, Spider Cider :D
There are items like kettle corn, honey, jellies, jams, sauces, and tea in the general store. I bought some mango flavored Moringa superfood tea. It smelled weird, but tasted really good XD
The mill does not ship any of their food or drinks as of the date that this post was written. However, there is a chance that they may implement shipping since their products are in high demand. Keep an eye on their Facebook page. They also have Twitter and Instagram pages.
If you watch the Food Network often like my mom and I, you have probably seen celebrity chef Alton Brown. He visited the mill in 2017 and gave it a high rating! :D You can view his post on this destination's Twitter page.
The history of Pawcatuk, Connecticut is next!
What is your favorite apple food/drink? I love both cold and hot apple cider!
