The Marshall House (aka the James Wilson Marshall House) is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the Lambertville Historical Society's headquarters and they have actually transformed the space into a museum :O It is currently closed as of the time this post was written, but will be open from 1 to 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays starting on April 23, 2022. The admission is free. The museum has a gift shop. You can view the merchandise on the Lambertville Historical Society's website before you visit. Convenient!
The building was constructed by Marshall's father, Philip, in 1817. The Marshall family put it up for sale after he passed away in 1834. The church of Lambertville—St. John's Roman Catholic Church—gained ownership of it in 1882 (we will be discussing the church in a future post). A woman named Alice Narducci petitioned to rescue the Marshall House from being demolished in the 1960's. The church agreed to sell it to a conservation department and the department leased it to the Lambertville Historical Society.
The Strand Theatre is next!
Have you ever been to a historical museum like this one?
