The year 1851 was the start of an industrial enterprise in Lambertville. The Belvidere-Delaware Railroad was constructed adjacent to the canal (we will talk about the canal in a future post). However, it was not completed until after 1863 due to John Holcombe's property being in the desired path. In 1871, the Belvidere-Delaware Railroad was replaced with the Pennsylvania Railroad. If you want to learn more about the transportation systems in this town, a presentation is available to download on the Lambertville Historical Society's website.
The Lambertville Station Restaurant and Inn is inside a train station that was built in 1867. The inn began operating first in 1984 then the restaurant was established a year later in 1985. The inn is very fancy and the restaurant has won multiple awards :O The owner and employees delight in serving upscale American foods and beverages, providing private rooms for meetings, and offering open spaces for social events. This is an especially exceptional spot for weddings! You can also get a breathtaking view of the Delaware River, as the hotel sits right on the banks of it. For more information about the inn and restaurant, including amenities, visit the hotel's website.
We will be discussing the Lambertville House next!
