If you missed the first part of our discussion about the railroad, you can view it here: https://meghanhirst27.wixsite.com/my-site/post/hobo-railroad-nh-part-1-history-and-hobo-junction-station.

The coolest thing about the Hobo Railroad is that it is a piece of locomotive history among a modern-day environment. You sit in refurbished vintage railcars and experience what this form of transportation was like in the 1800s and 1900s firsthand. If you love both trains and history, this is your kind of attraction!

All of the train rides begin at Hobo Junction Station at the foot of the White Mountains, run adjacent to the Pemigewasset River, then climb a short distance up the mountains. There is never a dull moment on the Hobo Railroad; there is something going on during every season. In the spring and summer, you may spot people fishing, kayaking, and swimming in the river. Like the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, this is an excellent place to view changing leaf colors when autumn rolls around. Additionally, there is an exciting children's event that occurs in winter: Santa Express Trains/Santa Trains. Children get to become acquainted with both Santa and Mrs. Claus, write what they want for Christmas, and receive a present. This is great if you have young children specifically!

For thorough details about the Hobo Railroad, including ticket information and COVID-19 guidelines, visit the sites in our previous post (Hoborr.Com and Hereinnewhampshire.Com).

Lake Winnipesaukee is next!

Have you ever been on a historic train ride?
