Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, PA - Part 6 Aquetong Meadow

This is another part of the preserve that was hit by awful weather! :O However, like the Founder's Pond and New Pond, it ended up being advantageous. A destructive wave of descending air from a thunderstorm (microburst) knocked down the forest here in the summer of 2016. With the trees gone, more sunlight was now able to reach the ground. The workers recognized that the new environment was perfect for cultivating native plants. It is also a nice place to get a view of the tower from a distance.


This area can naturally revert back to being a forest. For this reason, the workers need to carefully monitor and maintain it.
